Dear Friends

If I already have 1.7.1 installed on my TL-WR1043ND v2.1, I need to use: gargoyle_1.7.x-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v2-squashfs-sysupgrade only?

There was a problem with low bandwidth since 1.7.1, it's fixed in this version from ispyisail?

Sincerely
VAMET

Dear Friends

Nope, 1.6.2 version still the best for bandwidth, I have got 250/20Mbps and with the result for each version of Gargoyle:

1.6.2 - 249/19Mbps
1.7.1 - 189/19Mbps with Bandwidth Monitor disabled
1.7.1 (ispyisail) - 201/19Mbps with Bandwidth Monitor disabled

How many times you make test for each firmware?
Are you checking the same server?

p.s.
Device Name:wr1043nd
Gargoyle Version:1.7.1
Model:TP-Link TL-WR1043N/ND v1
Device Configuration:Gateway
Memory Usage:17.6MB / 28.2MB (62.4%)
Connections:254/4096
CPU Load Averages:0.00 / 0.01 / 0.05 (1/5/15 minutes)
Uptime:10 days, 14 hours, 12 minutes

100Mbit/100Mbit

Dear repeat

Yep, the same server and many times. The best result is with 1.6.2 version. Maybe the problem is with higher bandwidth then 200Mbps and you own only 100Mbps.

So there is something I do not quite understand :? . I am bumping along here with an expensive 1Mbps connection (on a good day) with a teenage family, and I KNOW why I NEED Gargoyle. It might be just a jealousy thing, but are not the the key features of Gargoyle, QOS, quotas, etc a little redundant on a 250Mbps? :-P
Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?

So you guys are saying that there were no problems with bandwidth in previous versions of Gargoyle? I have gargoyle on my NETGEAR WNDR3700v2, but the 1.7.1 version and I too have half of my bandwidth. My service is 250/10 mbit but router limits it to 112-125/10. That is really dissapointing and to be honest, such build should be considered as an alpha version.

Can any developer comment this? Are you working on the bandwidth problem?

@nworbnhoj Gargoyle is just simply the best firmware for any supported router. Whenever I buy a new router for myself or somebody else I install gargoyle right away.
QoS is still usefull when u've got assymetric link and it prevents the bottleneck effect to appear.

Thanks

There's a few bottlenecks at the moment.
1 of which is barrier breaker, which even though now patched, still sees a minor performance degradation compared to chaos calmer.

The other bottleneck is BWMON which is part of the core functionality of gargoyle.
It sucks up quite a bit of performance.

It is hardly an alpha though.
You might like to try 1.7.X and see if you have any gains.

Thanks for the quick reply and for clearing some things back for me. I won't be able to use my router for the next 2 weeks so we'll see how things will look by then.

Dear Friends

Like I said before the best for Bandwidth use (I own 250/20Mbps) is 1.6.2 version, because even with BWMonitor enabled I have:

1.6.2 - 249/19Mbps

and for others not stable versions like below I have got result with BWMonitor disabled:

1.7.1 - 189/19Mbps with Bandwidth Monitor disabled
1.7.X (ispyisail) - 201/19Mbps with Bandwidth Monitor disabled

I had all of above versions installed, but I downgraded to 1.6.2, because it is the best for my needs, no problems at all.

Sincerely
VAMET
