this is simple way to change identity of 941nd v5 into that of 841nd v8 so that you can install gargoyle or openwrt or ddwrt into it.just upgrade the firmware of your 941nd v5 router by this file using either the web ui or
mtd -r write tp.bin firmware
in putty or use
sysupgrade tp.bin
then your 941nd v5 router will be transformed into 841nd v8 router

as you may know that both routers has the same atheros chip and flash and ram .the only difference is that tp-link 941nd v5 router has 3 antenna while tp-link 841nd v8 has 2 antenna.basically Atheros AR9341 is 2x2.please see this http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr941nd
the file attached in this topic (tp.bin) is a stock firmware of tp-link 841nd v8 international modified in 2 aspects:
1-boot section removed using dd so that it can be installed using putty and mts or sysupgrade
2-the header information of image identity is changed from 841 v8 to 941 v5 so that it can pass the check of the 914nd v5 router.after install the identity of the router is changed to 841nd v8 so that you can install openwrt or gargoyle espicially BB or ddwrt of 841nd v8 as there is no image for 941nd v5 now excep for this image of openwrt AA in here https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php ... 67#p206667

I am well aware that I am resurrecting the thread but I am sure that the doubt I have after reading this post may occur to many others.

Does this mean that Gargoyle supports 841nd v8? Because I am very curios to install but can not find any wiki link or forum thread mentioning on how to proceed. If anybody can clarify if this is *really* possible, please confirm.
