Quick question.

I have a TP-Link Router flashed with Gargoyle 1.6X.

I have a combined Cable Modem/Router/WiFi Device from my cable provider. I would like to be able to keep using the WiFi setup from the cable modem but some how "insert" the Gargoyle router as a bridge into the chain so it can listen for bandwidth usage, website access, etc.

Can this be done? If I use one of the 4 LAN ports on the cable modem and go "out" from there and "In" to one of the 4 LAN ports on the Gargoyle router, will that be able to listen to everything?

Or is what I want to do impossible?

If I understand your setup correctly what you propose is possible but in my opinion a bad idea.

You want to decrease wifi noise not increase it

internet -- (provider router) -- (gargoyle router) -- (wifi router) <<>> PC

If you just want to use the existing cable router as a wifi access point, then why not use the gargoyle router as your main router then disable DHCP on the existing router and hook it up to a LAN port of the gargoyle router. You can disable wifi on Gargoyle or just use an additional channel.

I'm fairly certain that Gargoyle won't be able to do much unless you are going LAN->WAN through it.

You won't be able to. You'll end up with conflicting arp table. The switch of the gateway modem will be on your LAN and WAN at the same time.

I'd be very suprised if you can do VLANs on your cable modem gateway.

Anyway, you can setup your gateway as bridge and check how it behaves. In the worst case, if you mess anything up, you just have to do a factory reset and the gateway will restore the settings the provider put as it gets online.
