Support for Asus RT-N66U

I'm trying to get things working with the asus RT-N66U router. I've read many things in this forum and around google and here is my summary:
- ONLY the latest version of openwrt seems to work with this router (Barrier Breaker, I used this image: https://downloads.openwrt.org/barrier_b ... hfs-gz.trx )
Trying Attitutde adjustment does not work (and thus neither does the gargoyle 1.6.2 brcm image). Trying to install using:
src gargoyle http://gargoyle-router.com/packages/gar ... ackages.gz
does not work since it looks like some files have moved in the new openwrt. When can we get updated packages for barrier breaker so that I can try to install them on my openwrt (or could we get a native trx image for this router?) Is there a way i can compile the firmware myself (I have access to ubuntu 14.04 and windows 7 clients to compile the firmware if there are instructions).
P.S. This router is not easily brickable as you can always put it in recovery mode and flash a working firmware.
Thanks
