DIR-300 on 1.5.8 - can't downgrade/upgrade

Hi All,
I've flashed my DIR-300 with the 1.5.8 and (obviously) it's not running it very well. In fact it's not stable at all. So I wanted to downgrade it to 1.4.7 (which has been quite good). However GUI upgrade doesn't work, I can't access the Bootloader, also TFTP doesn't work.
I did some research and from here:
http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... f=8&t=3454
I know that I'm unable to flash it because of the low RAM.
I have also tried to ssh the router, stop all the services I knew I can, downloading the image by wget and then doing manual upgrade (sysupgrade) but it's just rebooting.
Can't also access the bootloader so tried this:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=492
Telnet is available but still no success.
I've been also trying the TFTP without success.
The samllest *.combined.squashfs.img I've found is the OpenWRT 8.0.9.2 (arround 2,4MB).
Does anyone habe any idea howcould I downgrade this reouter andmake it usefull again? Serial perhaps? I do have the FTDI USB<=>UART adapter...
Thanks for any advice!
Greg
