best Cable modem

Hi,
I am looking for a compatible Cable modem but the list of certified gargoyle ones are in their most. adsl. I am using a cable connection "F type cable connector" netgear cgd24n v2(big house 6 people and around 12 wireless devices). So.. I have 2 problems. 1 is this shit modem, and 2 is that I need to limit utilization per user or per mac address. I am happy to buy 1 single device to cover both problems. Can you guys give me some suggestions ? because of the nature of this house (they are not my family but my room mates, I need to make one go, buy the right device(nice, fast and gargoyle compatible) and make everyone happy.
