So i upgraded from wr1043nd to wdr3600. But now the wifi range is not that great as it was with wr1043nd.

Like 30-40 % worse. Will antenna upgrade with 8dbi omni directional dual band, makes things better ?

Or did i something wrong in gargoyle firmware? (which i doubt)

Router otherwise is great but the range is an issue.

2m away it shows in direct sight, -48, -55 on 5ghz band.
2m away it shows in direct sight, -35 -40 on 2.4ghz band.

On iphone5 is even worse. 4-5m away in sight of router, it shows -75,-84 on 5ghz band.

Interesting. I have a 3600 with wifi performance issues also. I was attributing it to new firmware, but that is just a guess.

Unfortunately the forum is not very interactive so you may not find easy help in resolving. But please post if you find something!

I just installed a 1.6.2 And i get exelence range compared to my old WZR-300HP, and the wrz was tested at almost 1 watt out and 29.5db, with a fcc limit of 30db.

I do lose 1 bar if i switch to 40mhz vs 20mhz. Another trick is use channel 1,6,11.
