Slow printing & 'Grabbled Text' with USB printer

Hello All,
I am having issue with my HP Lasrjet 3200 printer after installing Gagoyle 1.61 on Netgear WNDR3700 router & using router as a USB print server. So first let me give you a little background information.

I have an HP Laserjer 3200 printer which I was able to share between 5 PCs running different versions of Windows OS. I was using an old SpeedStreem 2614 router as a Print Server using parallel interface. I was using PCL5 drivers on PCs and printer was working flawlessly using LPR TCP/IP protocol. Now that old router has died, so I decided to use my Netgear WNDR3700 as a wired router/Printserver instead. I have used this printer successfully with a Tomato router in past so I was confident that I would be ok with Gargoyle.

So I installed Gorgoyle v1.61. Attached printer through USB cable. Printer is detected by the Gargoyle interface. After configuring TCP/IP ((RAW 9100) ) port on PCs, I was able to print a test page. So far so good. But then when I started using printer for real work, I started having issues. When I print few PDF pages, printer would 'hang' for 2-5 minutes with 'PRINTING' light flashing, before it would actually start printing. I never had this issue in past with either SpeedStreem 2614 router or an Asus Tomato router. Also printer would print 'Grabbled Text' on pages which was never observed in past. If I print one page at a time, I would still get 3-4 minute long pause before printing start, however it would print without 'Grabbled Text' issue. However printing more than 2 PDF pages would make printer go haywire again. There is no change in Printer driver, OS and printer. Only change is new Gargoyle router and a 'modern' USB interface instead of antiquated parallel interface.

Does anyone has any idea how to resolve issues of slow printing & 'Grabbled Text'?
Thank you.

Hello,
Ok I have solved the issues and this is how.

1) Grabbled text is solved by reinstalling TCP/IP port and setting network printer card as “HP JetDirect” . I have used various print servers over the past 10 years and has always used 'Generic Network Card' so I never noticed this setting even existed. However after carefully reading instruction and setting network printer card as “HP JetDirect” solved grabbled text issue.

2) My printer had 4MB useable RAM for last 10 years and it always printed without any pauses before printing. So I decided to upgrade RAM to see if “HP JetDirect” requires more RAM to work. After upgrading printer's RAM to 24MB useable RAM, now printer is working as fast as it did with Tomato or LPR protocol. So it seems “HP JetDirect” is less efficient and requires more RAM to work.
Regards.
