Setting up "Hilink" dongle with Gargoyle

The "Rooter" firmware, based on OpenWRT like Gargoyle, works with this dongle out of the box. It creates a LAN interface and gives itself an IP in the subnet of the dongle and it works perfectly.
However, on Gargoyle, this does not occur. How would I modify Gargoyle to do the same thing as Gargoyle?
Essentially, how would I use the dongle on a USB port on my TP-Link WDR3600 as a LAN interface on Gargoyle?
