Rule for HTTP Browsing vs. HTTP Downloads

Post by bzowk »

Hey All -

I've got a quick question about QOS in Gargoyle, please. I've set the assigned categories the way I want them and set the rules via port number. It's been working for a couple of weeks now and I think its working well - especially when browsing the web (towards the highest priority) when I am downloading a lot via FTP (lowest priority.

My question is, is there a way to set rules that would distinguish between simple HTTP browsing and HTTP downloading? Obviously, they both go over TCP 80, but didn't know if there was a way I could lower the priority of downloads or large, continuous data transfers (like 100k+?) specifically.

Any ideas?

Thank You!

You can use the "Connection Bytes" field to change the priority of a connection once it reaches a set size. So then downloads start as high priority and change to low once they get going.
