I have upgraded from openwrt to gargoyle my wr1043nd via console. Now gargoyle shows up on http://192.168.1.1 but password is not accepted for login .

before doing sysupgrade -v gargoyle.bin I have executed firstboot to go back to defaults.

But now I cannot login. Neither with gargoyle standard root/password nor openwrt standard root/(empty pass).

And now ??

Gargoyle should have OpenWrt failsafe modus? So that should give me access to the router? I'll try

That did it! pressing qss button quick and multiple when sys led starts to blink untill blinking becomes quicker, then telnet into the box
do mount_root and give root a new password with passwd.
after a reboot verything is working as expected.
