Hy guys

i only have a little bit knowledge of networking and configuring routers still i`m a university student,

i already installed gargoyle 1.5.10 on my TP link 1043nd and i`m continue to use it since version 1.5.7 . before i install the gargoyle my router is very unstable and wireless signals stops rapidly and i cant do any work with it but after i installed the gargoyle now they all are fixed. i wonder how stable and smooth gargoyle, and now i can set many user restrictions and lot more things thanks to gargoyle.i really love this firmware and thanks again to developers and contributors who develop this amazing firmware.

The reason i opened this thread is not a any fault of gargoyle firmware but i want to develop my knowledge about configuring OPENVPN and QOS in gargoyle , i already studied little bit about QOS and VPN and now i have a good knowledge about the technical theories behind those technologies but i have no idea how they configure with gargoyle.
so i have a couple of questions about configuring QOS and OPENVPN details below.i would thankful if anyone can give me a complete answer i already read the documentation but i didn't get good idea

1. how to configure OPENVPN with gargoyle an what VPN providers i should use ?

2. how to configure QOS and how to get maximum download speeds and maximum you tube streaming speeds

3. and this is a one additional question - i saw many times on the router firmware descriptions TOR , but i never find any tor options under my settings is TOR available in 1043nd ? or how can i enable it i? i`m using tor in my PC right now

4. and finally now i`m running on version 1.5.10 . i saw version 1.6.1 is released. can i flash directly version 1.6.1 or should is go to version updates incrementally ? i mean 1.5.11 - 1.6.0 - 1.6.1

firmware version is - 1.5.10
16GB USB disk attached

Any answer one could give on this would be highly subjective. If you want to use OpenVPN you should experiment on your own and decide which you like best.

2. how to configure QOS and how to get maximum download speeds and maximum you tube streaming speeds.

First you cannot use OpenVPN and QoS simultaneously. Also QoS does not increase your download speeds, in fact you have to give up a little speed to get fairness. See the Wiki. So getting maximum speeds means don't use QOS.

Plugins were introduced in v1.5.9. If you saved you settings when upgrading v1.5.7 -> v1.5.11 that would explain why you cannot see the plugin menu. I suggest you try to upgrade without saving settings.

You can go directly to any verison you want. I recommend v1.6.1 since it contains the most bug fixes.
