TL-WR1043ND Resets Repeatedly

I have had a TP-WR1043ND router running Gargoyle since I got it (got it on eBay last year). In the beginning I had a lot of connection issues which led me to getting the router. About a month after I set it up, and having sporatic connection drops, it started working great - with no config changes.
Now, having been working for several months, 2 days ago I added a Hawking HWREN2 WiFi Range Extender, and this morning it dropped the internet. After several attempts at resetting both the cable modem and the router, both with the extender on as well as off (which it is right now) and still nothing. If I leave it alone, It resets itself a few times and then settles with the power light, the system light and the two wired connections that are active (my TV and a computer) are the lights that are on.
I have attached a screen shot of my router setup:
Can anyone shed some light on my issues?
Thanks in advance.
