Can't install plugin

Hey folks.. first post - did a search but didn't find anything similar.

New to Gargoyle and loving it so far, thanks for the hard work! On to my issue..
- Tp-Link TL-WDR4300 V1.0
Testing a few things out and set up as follows:

First attempt:
- Have a mounted USB drive set to extroot (External root detected on /dev/sda1.)
- Root Drive 5.582 GBytes Total, 5.094 GBytes Free
- Swap is about 1.8GBytes
When I go to the plugin page it says "Package Cannot Be Installed (Insufficient Disk Space)" Even though there is 5GB.
Any ideas??

Second attempt:
- USB Drive as normal drive (not extroot) and change my plugin root drive to the external.
- Can install plugins but the links in the menu lead me back to the 'overview' page
- I can FTP in an view the contents of the drive and the plugins are on the thumbdrive so they have been installed...
How can I get the links to update?

When I had it set up in the second scenario they installed no problem. just the links in the menu bar were wrong and brought me back to the overview page.

the first setup (extroot) doesn't allow me to install anything, even if the plugin is only 22Kb.

Now when I put it back to non extroot and change the plugin root to the thumbdrive it still says there is not enough space on the drive.. ARG.

Drive is formated ext4 (25/75)

EDIT: Formated it on my PC as ext4 and now it works fine... weird!
