Please HELP: Revert TP-Link WR1043 v2.1 to OEM firmware

I need help reverting my WR1043ND v2.1 from Gargoyle 1.6 back to TP-Link firmware.

I tried the firmware image for the router from TP-Link website, but Gargoyle web interface does not take it, saying that it has a boot loader. Naturally, TP-Link does not want / cannot help; I already asked their support for supplying me with an image without the boot loader.

Has anyone successfully flashed this router back to TP-Link firmware and can share with me how to do it? Thanks heaps!!!

PS: need to revert to confirm that my intermittent WAN connection problems (as per http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... =11&t=5321) are actually router hardware problems and not problems with Gargoyle, so that I can get the unit replaced under warranty...

See http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl- ... l.firmware for instructions on how to revert a WR1043nd V1.x

The basic instructions may work for a V2.x.
I haven't tried.

Instructions are right on this site including the file to download and flash back onto your router to go back to stock. The link is included. Reverting to original firmware instructions are at the bottom half of the page.

But those instructions are for Ver. 1 and he wants to revert a Ver. 2.1
Here and at OpenWrt forum ask a member to compile a file for your 2.1 too read here https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php ... 45#p168045

Hi Tushkan3,
many thanks for your effort. I looked at the file and notice that it says TP-Link Technologies ver. 1.0 in the header. My router is a ver. 2.1, so are you 100% sure that this will work and not brick the router?

The reason I'm not following all these nice advices of "download stripped boot sector file from here ..." is that they all seem to ignore the fact that the files are always for h/w version 1.0, but my router is h/w version 2.1 and somehow I cannot help but think that 1.0 will not work for 2.1 due to major differences in the underlying hardware...

Cheers,
Holger

you can take the tp-link firmware for your router and cut it by 0x20200 bytes ;)
