TL-WDR4300 hanging by a thread

Hi,

I have a TP-Link WDR4300.
It's been flashed with gargoyle_1.5.11-ar71xx-generic-tl-wdr4300-v1-squashfs-factory.bin successfully and everything was running OK.
I wanted to flash it back to stock to test 5Ghz speeds.

Code: Select all

root@Gargoyle:/tmp# mtd -r write wdr4300stock.bin firmware
Unlocking firmware ...

Writing from wdr4300stock.bin to firmware ... [w]
[e]Failed to erase block
I now understand It's the wrong image.
Anyhow, now the router is partially working - WAN and WiFi are up and running well, I have SSH access.

But

Code: Select all

root@Gargoyle:/tmp# ls
Segmentation fault
When I try flashing any other image (tried the same original Gargoyle image and others), I get "Bus error".

I've been reading on the web about possible fixes but didn't find anything conclusive enough to actually take the risk and power cycle the router (probably bricking it).

Help would be greatly appreciated!

Bump.
It's been a while now and my router is still in a very delicate situation.
