I've downgraded from version 1.5.11 to version 1.5.6 because I had regular wifi issues (stopped working and I had to login and "wifi up" to resolve it) and found in some posts that the problem may not exist in this older version.

It seems like some/most of the router settings have survived the downgrade because it kept its IP address, provider, and wifi settings. However, I now have the problem that I cannot login on the web page. When I try, it says "Invalid Password".

I can, however, still login as root via SSH with my previous password. Is there a way to reset/change the password from the command line without resetting all the other settings?

OK, I found a solution on my own. The following worked for me:

1. Login as root via SSH with the your password.
2. In /etc/config/gargoyle change the option "require_web_password" to 0 temporarily.
3. You can now access the router's web page and under System > Router Access change the administrator password.
4. Change the "require_web_password" option back to 1.
