Show Hostnames when using another DHCP server

Hi,

So I'm running Gargoyle 1.5.11 on my WNDR3700 and loving it. I have a local windows server running active directory, DNS, and DHCP.

On the Gargoyle B/W Distribution page, I have show hostnames selected, but I only see IP addresses. I assume this is because I've disabled gargoyle DHCP service.

Is there anyway to set my router to use my server's dns to resolve the ip address so the host names are shown on the B/W Distribution page?
It's weird, I shh into the router and able to resolve local ip to dns, but still only ip address is shown on the web gui.

Hi
Try Connection -> DNS Servers and setup your new dns server

I'm having the same issue. Has anyone solved this?

I have exact same problem in 2019
using it it on wrt3200acm v1.

everything else works perfectly. BEST firmware ! ...using Gargoyle now instead of ddwrt.
...even flashed directly from ddwrt gui and worked on the first try.

anyone got a solution for this ? this almost is a deal breaker to not have hostnames show

No, you need to load the relevant host names into /etc/ethers and /etc/hosts if you want it to work.

If Gargoyle has DHCP turned off or is in Bridge mode, the hostname is not visible. The only option is to add data to files, as @Lantis says through ssh - but it's an impractical and extreme solution.
