Need help with setup (I'm a complete beginner)

Just an FYI, I am using my old router because I could not setup the new one correctly. (This old one is stock firmware.)

I have a TP-Link TL-WDR3600 Router and I just upgraded the firmware to the 1.5.9 version of gargoyle. From there, I went to 192.168.1.1 and now I have no idea on what I am supposed to do in order to setup my wireless network (as well as wired network, considering it's not working through the router).

I would like to request step-by-step instructions on how to correctly setup my new router. I have absolutely no clue on what to do, or if I already did something wrong like renamed the firmware incorrectly to gargoyle.bin...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It appears as though the defaults are sufficient enough to have the router up and running with wireless connections. My 3600, on the other hand, did no such thing. I set an encryption (WPA2) and a password. Then saved changes. For some reason, no internet access was detected. Then I muddled with the configs (NO CLUE with what I was doing), and decided to just put everything back to default. Finally, I just gave up and setup my old router and decided to ask online.

So, what seems to be the problem? What can I do to give more info on the matter?

Another thing I've noticed is that the internet connection lately has been very poor. So, it could just be that the ISP is being unreliable, and it happened to be unreliable as I was setting up the new router... I don't know though!

It is best that you ask someone competent around you to come to your place and help you..

It is too hard to tell you what to do when you have no clue what you are doing.. when you can't figure it out yourself..
