I have a TL-WR1043ND Ver 1.8 running Gargoyle version 1.5.9.
Everything I need is running well & stable, but even when is set to 40 Mhz, with noscan=1, I am not able to see the 2nd channel activated (using InSSider or Wifi Analyzer).
Is there something missing in my configuration in order to get the 40 Mhz mode working?
Thanks in advance
Regards

Read through this thread and try that if you are willing
Some have reported this didn't work, but I had no issues
IF you understand linux - make a backup of the 2 .ko files
There's always the potential you'll have to recover via failsafe mode
and/or recover via serial when messing with kernel modules.

Re: 40 Mhz 2nd channel 1043ND Rev 1.5.9
Thank you for your answer.
I am not so skilled, so odds are against me and on favour of bricking the device.
Having read the post that you indicated & the following posts:
https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php ... 26#p188426
http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Wirele ... 460#M15272
I came up with the idea that using Gargoyle version 1.5.6 is it possible to have 40 Mhz working on 1043nd. It seems to be the last NO "Attitude Adjustment" version.
Do you think it will work ?
Is it possible to downgrade Gargoyle from 1.5.9 to 1.5.6 on 1043nd using the GUI ?
Should I use the gargoyle_1.5.6-ar71xx-tl-wr1043nd-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade or the one labeled "factory" ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards

Re: 40 Mhz 2nd channel 1043ND Rev 1.5.9
Yes - you can downgrade via the GUI
BUT
DO NOT keep settings - do it like this
1) Reset router to defaults
2) Flash from 1.5.9 GUI -> 1.5.6 (make sure keep settings is NOT checked)
3) Wait - 1.5.6 GUI should come up

Re: 40 Mhz 2nd channel 1043ND Rev 1.5.9
Downgrade was perfect.
1.5.6 is working and stable.
Unfortunately, I am not able to see the 40 Mhz channel activated on my TL-WR1043ND.
Any ideas?
Someone was able to use 40 MHz (300Mbps) on this model of wireless router with Gargoyle or any other FW?
Thanks in advance

Try doing the mod in that thread and see if your 40mhz shows up

Re: 40 Mhz 2nd channel 1043ND Rev 1.5.9
I had followed your link, then this one: https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php ... 21#p190221
Finally I applied the following:
The reghack utility replaces the regulatory domain rules in the driver binaries
with less restrictive ones. The current version also lifts the 5GHz radar
channel restrictions in ath9k.
How to use:
ssh root@openwrt
cd /tmp/
wget http://luci.subsignal.org/~jow/reghack/reghack.elf
chmod +x reghack.elf
cp /lib/modules/*/ath.ko .
cp /lib/modules/*/cfg80211.ko .
./reghack.elf ath.ko
./reghack.elf cfg80211.ko
mv *.ko /lib/modules/*/
reboot
No visible changes. 40 Mhz did not show up.
Before downgrade, I applied this procedure (REGHACK) on Gargoyle Rev 1.5.9 and CH12 & 13 showed up but 40Mhz was still missing.
Do you know if someone was able to work in HT mode with a 1043nd?
Even when it is not a 1043ND, I found the following :
http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Wirele ... 460#M15272
The issue you are having isn't a 2nd radio not working, its the wireless driver, a universal problem right now that has to do with the ath9k wireless driver. And the problem is going to effect (and is already) all firmwares that use ath9k based code, such as dd-wrt. Right now HT40 in ath9k has issues, so either use an older build or wait till the issue is resolved
If you feel the above statement could be right, which Gargoyle version would be the best version to try?
Once again, Ideas are welcome.
Thanks again.

Re: 40 Mhz 2nd channel 1043ND Rev 1.5.9
I've been experiencing wireless inconsistencies with v. 1.5.1.0 on my v1.7 1043ND's. Whilst watching movies from a media-tank, the video would pause but the wireless connection remains connected. Disabling the wireless NIC on my mbp and re-switching it on temporary helps but it reoccurs shortly after. Here's a list of what I tried:
- changing channels and finally choose a suitable channel with a sustainable 130M connection (channel overcrowding not an issue)
- scheduling daily 3am router restarts (no difference)
- Disabled Atheros Adaptive Noise Immunity (ANI) and "Low Ack" disassociation as per http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... =11&t=4667 (no difference)
- finally, i've downgraded one of my 1043ND's to v.1.5.6 to see if this makes a difference. Will report back if I see any improvements
