I have been experimenting with OpenWRT on my Netgear 3700 V1. I have installed Paragon EXTFS and formatted my HDD in EXT4 via the Gargoyle Gui. Here is what I am trying to do:

1: Connect my HDD to my router and have the Macbook be able to see it and copy files as needed.
2: Have the HDD idle / spin down after period of inactivity.
3: Have Time Machine see the drive if I format a parition in HFS Plus so I can use it as a capsule as well.

How would one go about this? I have tried to set it up via the GUI as below

But the Macbook won't connect? I just want to be able to drag and drop files? Can I get AFP maybe, and if so how?

Finally I want to be able to read HFS+ so I can see it via TIme Machine and set it up as a Capsule. Which package do I need?

1) No experience with this but this may help you:

2) Google searching only shows stuff about packages for Broadcom
based hardware, you have an Atheros chipset, so you may have to
look into compiling your own packages.

3) Maybe - but lots of work on your part - read link below:
