2 routers, same model, same config, big problem

My setup is as follows:
(a) Asus N66U (default firmware) ----------- (b) TPLink WR4039ND (gargoyle, wireless repeater) ========= (c) TPLink WR4039ND (gargoyle, wireless repeater)
-------- is wireless
====== is wired
Both b and c point to a for their dhcp server and repeater, however c isn't quite in range, but I figured that didnt matter. b and c work independently, however when I connected c to b with a CAT6 cable, and computers using b go ape shit and don't know where to get their IP from, and don't connect to the internet. Ideally c would be a simple switch, but I don't have one - I do have 2x WR4039ND's!
So the question is, what config should I be using when 2 repeater routers are connected to each other with a cable?
