USB drive encryption, Amazon Glacier support

Hi,
is it possible that Gargoyle could:
- encrypt the content of USB attached drives,
- upload files using Amazon Glacier? (encrypted content of course).
Btw. is it possible to access the USB drive via FTP from the internet without using VPN?

So, I have the same wish. To make my USB attached Disk, encrypted (and that the Router mounts it automatically on startup/plugin), and share it as a NASS.
But I take it no one has done it? ... as post gone unanswered for over a year now..
Of course, then I would like to mount it on a Linux/Win PC using correct drivers/software. (in case of router fail, etc).

Quick answer: a regular home router will never be powerful enough
to make it feasible to mount an encrypted drive
The throughput would be horrendously slow
Encryption is VERY cpu intensive and a regular router just won't do
If you were running an x86 based machine with Gargoyle/OpenWRT
then it could definitely be possible to mount an encrypted drive

Thank you. You are probably right, thus why I have not been able to find anyone doing/offering such feature.
I would, however, be looking at doing an encrypted drive, not on a 'per file' basis. Not sure if it would 'really' make a difference.
I did look at the option of running you mention, which is sort of my current running solution; a 4 HDD NAS with encrypted drives is what I currently have. And now, looking at a "low profile" back up option for the NAS, and was looking at running it off a USB 2TB HDD mounted on the Router.
Oh well. Maybe some day.
