I tend to agree
I would suggest the more powerful routers on that list, some of them are started to get a little dated
suggest
Ubiquiti Routerstation
Ubiquiti Routerstation Pro
Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH
D-Link DIR-825 b1,b2
Netgear WNDR3700v1-2
or a cheaper option
TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v1-1.8
I like the look of the Routerstation Pro recommend above by ispyisail. I would like to support Gargoyle by purchasing from the Shop here. Is it possible to do this.
advantages to me are not having to do all the flashing of the roughter and maybe cost? Although the cost is usually negated by shipping price to N, vs the saving on GST (an NZ Tax).
I have a need to share my Internet with Tenants in my building where my personal gear is all Mac's. NZ Law about Pirating now makes sharing dangerous for Landlords unless it can be isolated.
Has any one any comments about the:
Ubiquiti Routerstation Pro
or a cheaper option
TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v1-1.8 which is avail at the shop?
Thanks in advance for your import

Hi Ispyisale, That sounds like a very fair exchange. Searching the forum more broadly after I posted and I found that the freight is even worse from Eric than i thought it would be.
I found a price of NZ$99 Delivered for the TP-Link WR1043ND
http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/compone ... rtid=12378
But not sure if this is what I need or if there is a better choice without blowing the budget. I only have experience with Apple gear. This will be a first time running Open-Wrt based equipment and flashing it.
I see you are in NZ, I'm Wellington
Browsertoo@me.com will get me and I can give you a better contact then.
Thanks for your kind offer. Regards

I have
D-Link DIR-300 Rev.A
Ubiquiti Routerstation Pro
TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v1-1.8
I can give you good support for these routers
If you purchase anything else and it turns bad you might have to post it to me?
This is where I purchase my routers in New Zealand

http://www.gowifi.co.nz/

Note the Routerstation Pro doesn't come with a case or power supply
Remember to make a donation to Eric

Hi Ispyisale,
Thanks for the info. The case may not be an issue as I can make an Aluminium case or a plastic one if plastic is OK as will be easier and cheaper.
What are the differences between the Ubiquiti Routerstation Pro and
TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v1-1.8?
Does one have stronger performance than the other? The price difference does not seem to be great.
Yep, made a donation this morning, Thanks and Regards
Neil

"Ubiquiti Routerstation Pro" is double the power and double the features
And has failsafe flashing
but note it doesn't come with a radio. you might need to add $100 bucks for a radio
I don't use a radio

OK, please confirm that I understand you correctly. Are you saying that RSP is a wired router and does not have WiFi in the basic kit. I did see that you had to add a radio selected from either a Support for 3 Ubiquiti SR,XR,or SR71 radios. What is the difference between these?
No Radio works for me too as I can do the wireless side using my existing Time machine WiFi, Pls confirm this too.

Support for 3 Ubiquiti SR,XR,or SR71 radios. What is the difference between these?
frequency and power rating
If you go mad you can put a radio that will reach much further than any consumer product. in not sure its legal etc etc
http://www.ascent.co.nz/productspecific ... mID=366270
The antenna and cable cost as much as the radio
