Is it possible to install Gargoyle over the factory Netgear firmware? If so which bin would I use?

No - not possible
The v3 version is not supported by OpenWRT so Gargoyle would
not support that router either.
If you need the functionality of OpenWRT / Gargoyle - you need
to purchase a router that is supported by OpenWRT.

Just had to ask. DD-wrt are supporting it now. I just wanted to try Open-wrt to see if the performance would be better.

Hi, I need to test this gargoyle_1.7.0-ar71xx-generic-wnr2000v3-squashfs-factory.img firmware. My wnr2000v3 is being tested (used) as an AP right now because of it being unstable (occasional locked-up) as a router. I had a hard time uploading all the three OpenWRT images - so I am not buying anymore netgear product in the future. They "intentionally" protect the uboot so no other firmware can be loaded. That principle is a big "NO"-"NO" to me.
Is there a way to upload the "gargoyle_1.7.0-ar71xx-generic-wnr2000v3-squashfs-factory.img" either via "TFTP" or any other firmware?
How come DD-WRT is not sharing "their" technique to us and share the recipe on uploading other firmware to this device?
Thanks in advance.

I move on and bought a WNR854T for $4.57 on Ebay. The router has a stock firmware on it. Is working OK with an HP power supply (12V_1.6A)
