WR1043ND - Gigabit lan - PC connecting at 100Mbps

Hi
Not sure where this is a problem so I figure I'll start with the router (given it will be easier to get an answer out of here than MS/Realtek/Nvidia).
I've got a TP link WR1043ND router with gargoyle 1.4.7. Running great by the way - SOOO much better than my old WRT54G.
So the router is capable of gigbit speeds, and my two network cards in my Windows 2008 server are also. But on Auto negoiate both cards reports 100Mbps.
I assume that gargoyle will allow gigbit connection, ie it doesn't set a maximum somewhere?
I've tried playing with drivers to no avail. Could cables make a difference? Do I need a higher grade of LAN cable?
