Hello to all!

I've got a task to make a public access point, the router connects to the corporate LAN and must share the internet access among customers. But the bandwidth must be strictly controlled.
I installed the Gargoyle firmware but can not configure properly the QOS settings.
I performed some tests with my laptop connected to the 54GL wirelessly, created a new rule at QoS(Download) tab (Destination IP - my laptop's IP) and set the maximum download speed at 300 kbit/s (the actual bandwidth is about 8 Mbit) but I still can use Torrent client at full speed.

How to create a rule to restrict the bandwidth for entire activity in the internet for all devices which are connected to the AP wirelessly?

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi

It sounds like the torrent client isn't being identified correctly. I would look in status->connection list which will show what rules are being applied.

If you also look in QOS you should be able to see how much load is being taken up by each rule (should be clear if the rule isn't capturing it).

reading pbix's excellent guide

http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/doku.php?id=qos

He indicates that maximum bandwidth is a rule that is always applied regardless of how much availability is on the connection. Assuming you are on 1.5.4!
