evening everyone. i just wanted to ask the members or forum or eric about broadcom wireless n routers. is there a reason why there isn't much support for these routers? i see in the support page that the wrt150n, wrt300n, and the wrt350n are supported which puts all three routers in the out dated category (personal opinion only). i am hoping that by posting this comment i would wake some interest in others for broadcom support. i know that gargoyle is based on openwrt and of course i checked their supported list page and seems to be the same supported devices, but mainly supporting atheros devices just well as gargoyle does. is there any interest in gargoyle with broadcom? it would be great to see gargoyle run on the e-3000 by linksys or buffalo broadcom based routers? please keep in mind i am only looking for answers.

The newer Broadcom drivers are not open source so its very hard
to make them compatible with the OpenWRT firmware

You'd be better off asking in the OpenWRT forums for support as
Gargoyle is more of an enhanced GUI / QoS / Monitoring and is
based on OpenWRT underneath (OpenWRT does all the drivers)

The older routers have support because their code became
open source at some point (I think?)

I wouldn't call any of these devices outdated. I've owned wrt300n and wrt400n, and I see no advantage in upgrading. Currently I tend to buy tp-link, since they're low cost and most units are flashable to dd-wrt or gargoyle.

I'm sure the E series will be supported by gargoyle eventually, but until then, you're not missing much. Gigabit LAN and dual band are gimmicks in the current state. The average ISP bandwidth won't even max out 100mbps, and most consumer devices don't support 5ghz.
