Locked out - Embarrassing

Hi, I have WRT54G that I flashed and it was/is working.

Due to circumstances I cannot recall I disabled DHCPD and Wireless and set WAN to a manual IP (forgotten) and set the LAN to some private address.

I cannot recall the IP and I can't get into my router.

I have numerous Ubuntu machines with their plethora of net tools available. I tried nmap 192.168.0.0/16 and I tried 30/30/30.

If I connect two computers on the same subnet to two of the lan ports thay can talk so I am assuming it is not bricked.

On that subject, the power led flashes for about a minute, the DMZ light comes on for ~45 seconds and then extinguishes. If I plug a UTP into the wan port the Internet led illuminates and if I plug one into a lan port the corresponding led illuminates.

Would really like to give Gargoyle a run on my 3 x WRT54G and 3 x TP1043N's

Can anyone suggest a way in?

Hmm, no luck. Might be hardware failure. I'll chuck it in the bin.

Thanks for the assist.

Did you read http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/dok ... e_recovery?

Two software methods there usually work.

The JTAG method requires you to purchase a $5 dongle on ebay and possibly solder a header into the board. As long as your router has no hardware issues you will be able to recover it with that method.

Of course the WRT54GL is quite dated at this point and while it does work with Gargoyle the interface is rather pokey and the maximum throughput is around 8mbps with Gargoyle. So depending on your goals here you might want to consider other hardware in any case.

Instead of chucking them you might put them on EBay.
