Block cable modem from serving DHCP

We're using a Linksys WRT54GS v3. We started with DD-WRT, then successfully installed Gargoyle 1.4.5. We ran into some weirdness - the "uplink/wan" port no longer works. In fact, if we plug anything into it we lose connections to the router. But port 4 on the standard ethernet ports works for uplink, and we're able to get a WAN IP only if the cable modem is plugged into that port.
Fine, I don't mind using a workaround (though it'd be nice to fix that).
The real issue is that now we are randomly receiving 192.168.100.X IP addresses, but only sometimes. When we get those IPs, we cannot get to the internet, although it does say we're joined to the correct wireless SSID. Our subnet is NOT 192.168.100.X. I tracked this down to the cable company's router. Going to the 100.1 gateway pulls up the cable modem's diagnostics page. I have been unable to get it to stop serving. So my question - can I block these requests in Gargoyle itself? I looked at the firewall briefly, but its in a format I'm not familiar with, and I'd rather not break stuff if possible.
Never had this issue with the standard (albeit crappier) router we had on before this.
Any ideas? Anyone?
