How about wireless survey? For scanning local area for other AP, and use existing name for apclient?

If you use windows vista there is an applet that will do this on your desktop. Also if no vista, google desktop (which i highly recommend) also has an applet that will do it as well.

I've had several people request this feature, so it's fairly high on my to-do list.
The main reason I've been putting it off is that when the next release of OpenWrt Kamikaze comes out I'll probably need to update the wireless networking configuration to work with the updates from the new release. I'm reluctant to implement a feature now that may need significant modifications for the new release (which, by Murphy's law, will come out the day I finish the implementation).
However, if the upcoming release is delayed too much longer I'll likely just go ahead and implement it sooner rather than later.

Ok, I've finally... six months later... gotten around to implementing this. Sorry for the delay guys...
New bleeding edge firmware has been uploaded.

Gargoyle 1.3.11
Connection -> Basic
Device Configuration - Choose Wireless Bridge / Repeater
Go down to: SSID to Join - hit the SCAN button
Should show available networks + signal strength
Don't SAVE anything, just use that to scan.
I think before, you had to just manually enter in an SSID?
Not sure myself... never needed/used wireless bridge usually.
If you browse the page source, there is code to
use the wifi-survey stuff, so you could probably add that on
to another page yourself and have that button available
from say - the main Status -> Overview page.
I may try tinker with that and see if I can get that to work also.
