Looks like you are trying to do it on your windows machine and not on the router (through ssh).

You should select SSH, not SCP.

You should select SSH, not SCP.
but first he has to upload copy the new firmware to /tmp with winscp, selecting SCP, right??

He does use winSCP as his SSH client (I prefer to use PuTTY directly).

As described by others, could not install the Gargoyle 1.4.5 v5 firmware through the TP-Link web interface (wrong HW version), so did the following:

1. Downloaded the latest OpenWRT build for v7 from here:
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr841nd
2. Downloaded the Gargoyle v5 factory image
3. Installed the OpenWRT firmware through the TP-Link Web UI
4. The OpenWRT came without LuCI web interface, so used PuTTY to telnet to router to set password
5. Used WinSCP to upload Gargoyle v5 factory image firmware to /tmp and rename to fw.bin
6. Opened a terminal window in WinSCP and executed

Code: Select all

mtd -r write /tmp/fw.bin firmware
(as described in reverting to original firmware in link above)

That's it! Now running Gargoyle 1.4.5 on TL-WR841 v7.2 almost without touching Linux
I successfully flashed a v.7.1 router with Gargoyle 1.5.3 using this guide.

It's very interesting!
Smb knows, are there in Gargoyle PPTP/L2TP VPN-protocols to WAN connection :?: I didn't see it on screenshots and here

And I found this site with polish Gargoyle firmware for v7. Did smb test this?

first of all thx hnl_dk, it worked and I successfully got gargoyle working on my wr841. i wanted to use it as a bridge, so i tried to config it as shown in the screenshot, but I must have done something wrong, since i cannot conncet with the router now (no valid ip-adress) - i tried to reset it, but it still does not work :( is there any way to reset the router or get access to it again? or did i brick it?
thx again for your help!!

hopefully you can enter failsafe!

http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/dok ... e_recovery

see "Using Failsafe recover mode", try both reset or QSS button...
