Connection lost on DHCP timeout

I have a few laptops hooked on wifi to the router.
I've assigned static addresses to these laptops but i left DHCP enabled for other devices I have.
The problem is every time DHCP timeout comes laptops lost wifi connections for a few seconds and all active connections get disconnected. Why don't router tracks the host activity and update timeout time to avoid drops.
More than that static IPs shouldn't have DHCP timeouts at all!!!
