Success installing Gargoyle 1.5.0 on a Netgear WNDR3800
Posted: Mon Nov 14, 2011 1:59 pm
Hi everybody,
I've discovered the Gargoyle project yesterday, after years of OpenWRT and DD-WRT and some weeks with TomatoUSB.
My ADSL connection's speed isn't very predictable so any QoS has always failed...but Gargoyle succeeded in managing my bandwidth in a great way, allowing me to talk via VOIP without ANY issue.
I've tried it on my old WRT54GL but I needed some more speed and the ability to keep some OpenVPN VPNs up, and my (great) TomatoUSBed Cisco E3000 isn't compatible with Gargoyle.
I could not find a WNDR3700v2 so I tried with the 3800, which seems to be more or less the same device (but with 128MB ram).
I was able to install Gargoyle 1.5.0 (wdr3700v2 version) after flashing an OpenWRT build (found here: http://www.myopenrouter.com/article/311 ... rm-Router/). I don't know if it's possible to flash Gargoyle directly.
It's been working for some hours now, and I didn't notice any problem. I will report back any issue. Meanwhile, I could see that Gargoyle's kernel was able to detect and use the whole 128MB ram.
Here's my dmesg:
Hope it helps.
