Latest beta mvebu wrt3200acm can't enable guest wifi

Installed the latest Jan 2026 beta onto wrt3200acm.

Can't enable Guest wifi. The webpage just shows the spinning wheel and if you reload the page, it's like nothing changed. Page will reload immediately and guest wifi was never enabled.

Further info, I have both 2.4 and 5ghz standard wifi enabled, using default settings except for adding wpa2 psk security and setting a password.

Base wifi has been working fine for past several hours. Just can't enable Guest wifi.

Ah! My apologies, a fix for this did go in 7 months ago but it was not brought across to the latest beta builds.

Depending on your technical skills, you could attempt to patch the JavaScript yourself?
Otherwise I will ensure it makes it into the next build.

Now my understanding of testing this bug was that it only caused a problem when a user attempted to enable guest networking on the first time configuration after a new flash. It should work after that without issue.
It sounds like you’re seeing a slightly different problem?

I guess this would be considered a first time flash.

I bought the router used, did a factory reset using the rear push button, then installed divested to try that out using the factory image, then upgraded that, but I hated the luci interface and didn't want to spend the time to learn how to configure it, so I flashed your latest beta from latest divested.

I've been using your last gargoyle official release for the wrt3200acm for the past two+ years on a different (but same model) router, so I'm pretty familiar with it. And I had about 20 years experience running Tomato on older routers.

I'll wait for your next beta release.

Thanks for the quick response and thanks for your amazing efforts with gargoyle. This beta seems substantially more refined than the old official release I had been running.

If you could answer a quick question... On the old official release for this router, 5ghz was never stable so I just used 2.4 exclusively. I've followed the discussions over the past several years about improvements to the code for the mvebu routers.

In your opinion, is the 5ghz band stable enough for reliable use in the latest betas for wrt3200acm? I'd like to be able to use both bands reliably on this router, ideally.

Thanks again.

Sorry for the late reply. A new build will come out in the following week which should include the fix (that was accidentally left out) and you should be sorted for the guest network.

The mwlwifi drivers are... what they are. They're not ever going to see massive amounts of improvement as they have closed source firmware binaries and without opening those up people are just guessing.
There has been a handful of patches merged over the last few years, some of them claiming to fix various interoperability issues. I haven't tested it myself (I retired that device) but it would be worth a try.
