DNS

Hello,

I have currently "Default Servers specified by ISP" set for DNS.

However, if I use Auto DNS mode in iPhone or IPad then I do not get connected to Internet. I must always manually enter the DNS "192.168.1.1". Then it works.

I get Internet from Cable Company and in my Router I have the setting for "Connected via" set for "DHCP (wired)".

Any idea what might be wrong?

Is it possible you have more than 1 DNS server running on your network causing the iphones to misconfigure?
What DNS are they detecting when they are in automatic mode?

Have you made any other changes? Anything non-standard on the command line?
Is force router DNS set on or off, and does it make a difference when changed?

I do not have any DNS in my Home network. I use static IPs and I wanted to use only DNS from Internet provider.

I did not make any changes on the command line level.

"Force Router DNS" is not set. I will try to set it and see what happens.

What is interesting that I have many HP Elitebooks and they work without any problem. Here I use DHCP for IP and DNS is auto set. Only in case of the iPhones I am using static IPs that I manually enter and the DNS only what I wanted to set as Auto.

Why are you manually entering static IPs on the iPhone itself? Control this from the router.

It looks like iOS may require DNS to be set manually when using manual IP address.
