Sharing error

Post by Kenderice »

Hello.
Please help.
I'm using Gargoyle on an x86 PC.
It has a SATA HDD on which I store the data.
Movies, music, photos.
I added a new FTP user to the system.
I have granted access to a shared folder.

When I saved the configuration, all the shared folders became empty.
When I transferred the HDD to another Linux PC, it also saw it as empty.
This is the second time this has happened.

What could be the problem?

df command result:
/dev/sda1 1K-blocks: 960380628 used:77852 available: 911448316
0% /tmp/usb_mount/13cb989f-966f-ca4b-b760-ba400c628c77

The entire HDD appears to be empty.

How can gargoyle delete all files in few seconds?

fdisk -l command:
GPT PMBR size mismatch (1953525163 != 1953525167) will be corrected by write.
The backup GPT table is corrupt, but the primary appears OK, so that will be used.
The backup GPT table is not on the end of the device. This problem will be corrected by write.

could this be causing the problem?

fsck?

BTW: is this machine on a UPS? do the problems follow power disturbances/outages?

No UPS
The error does not occur after a power failure or unexpected restart.
It happens when I add a new user and a new share to a working system, after when I click the "Save settings" button.

fsck:
root@Gargoyle:~# fsck
-ash: fsck: not found

Many basic terminal commands are missing from gargoyle...

Can we rule out hardware failure?

Please perform the following troubleshooting steps.
1. Put the data on the drive.
2. Verify the data on the drive from Gargoyle (ls -al)
3. Set up the FTP share (please show your settings for the share including the path, the users permission etc)
4. Verify the data again

If I can reproduce it locally that will help

Please be respectful when posting. I do this in my free time on a volunteer basis.

Not a hardware fault.
The system worked for a long time.
After that, I had to add another user and his shared folder to the system, then all data disappeared from the HDD.

I then unmounted the HDD, formatted it, recreated the users and shared directories.
I restored all data from backup.

After that, the next day I added a new user and his shared folder again, again all the data disappeared from the hdd.
All shared directories are empty. Viewed with Midnigt Commander, the entire /dev/sda1 partition is empty. Files and folders are all gone.
