x86 installation options

Post by agrohe21 »

I am evaluating whether to move my existing Gargoyle router to a spare x86 machine. I see there are several options for x86, but I do not understand which to use. I have the SSD formatted as EXT4.
  • x86-64
    x86-generic
    x86-geode
I am guessing I would use x86-64 but would like some confirmation and/or guidance.

X64 if your hardware is capable (most will be these days).
Geode is almost always the wrong choice unless you have an ALIX device.

Ok. I will try that. What is the generic used for?
