Version 1.3.16 - wake on lan troubles form wakeonlan.me

Hi All
Here's my setup:
TL-WR1043ND - running Gargoyle 1.3.16
Internet access is via the WAN port - for which i have the TP-LINK ADSL2+ MODEM ROUTER Model No: TD-8840
My internet works fine, and static IP shows up ok in gargoyle on the status over view page.
I've got all my devices within my lan using gargyole for DHCP and DNS, and have create firewall rules to allow port UDP 7 & 9 to my server so i can run the WOL from the wakeonlan.me/ site, now when i send the WOL from this site i can see it get to the gargoyle in the Status > connection list (here i can see that the WOL has got this far and looks to be sending the the correct server) however the box doesn't wakup.
However if i use the new WOL feature of gargoyle and just wakeup my server wakes up no problem but that's not the solution i want - as before when i was uing the tplink firmware it had MAC binding to IP's and the WOL from this site worked fine - thus allowing me to wake up my machine remotly then start accessing it.
Is anyone else having this issue - or any ideas on how to resolve ?
It's not the NIC on the server as it accepts WOL from any other machine within the LAN. does Gargoyle have the ability to bind mac addresses to IP addys so when the machine is offline and it's DHCP lease is expred if i send the WOL the gargoyle will recgonise the MAC and associate it to the IP?
any help apprecialted, thankss.
