Does Gargoyle support this router?
I couldn't find it in the download list.
Is is officially supported by openwrt.
So was wondering if I could use gargoyle.
https://openwrt.org/toh/hwdata/netgear/netgear_r6220
Thanks.

It should be possible to support it. It is not currently supported.
If a endeavouring community member wanted to test and send the required patches for support, I'll happily accept them.

You would need to learn to custom compile Gargoyle for your new router, test it to make sure everything is working, and then send the patch to me.
There are lots of resources on the forum and on the internet. Most things that apply to OpenWrt apply to Gargoyle as well. There are some Gargoyle specific instructions below:

If you're feeling brave, Polish Gargoyle has support for the R6220. I just got this cheap router to test it and it has been running great for the past 28 hours. I'll keep everyone posted long term.

Using OpenWRT 19 based images (Gargoyle 1.13 test builds) you can easily flash this router using the factory.img file in the firmware upgrade page; can't get any simpler than that. If you want the direct link to the file go here:
https://dl.eko.one.pl/gargoyle-pl/openw ... ps/mt7621/
Then look for the "r6220-squashfs-factory.img" file. After you flash it it'll be in Polish, but can be switched to English in one click when configuring your password. WiFi is enabled by default.
Edit: Forgot; if you're already on OpenWRT you can just use the sysupgrade file.
