WNDR3700v2

I just picked up a WNDR3700v2 from the store. I was able to successfully install OpenWRT without any issues.

I also tried one of the gargoyle pre-packaged images:
gargoyle_1.3.12-ar71xx-wndr3700-squashfs-factory.img
However, this failed with the router light blinking/flashing green continuously which indicates "corrupt firmware" according to the manual. I noticed that OpenWRT has a separate image for v2 of the WNDR3700 and the v1/v2 versions are not compatible. V2 has 16MB flash opposed to 8MB on the v1.
Here is a link describing some of the changes to get OpenWRT running on a v2:
https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php ... 02#p126302
Would it be possible to get a wndr3700"v2" version of the gargoyle firmware?
I also tried installing the gargoyle packages on top of the base OpenWRT as described http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/dok ... f_packages, but was unsuccessful. After updating the package list, executing "opkg install gargoyle" listed all of the packages, but they all said: "<package name> has no valid architecture, ignoring."
Should I be able to do this? Do I need an older version of OpenWRT for this to work? -- I used the most recent.
Thanks for any help!
