Can't access router browser page

Hi

I'm looking for some help please.

I have been using gargoyle for about 3 weeks (previously tomato) on my wrt54gl. Last night my 2 netbooks suddenly couldn't connect wirelessly anymore. They're both using eeebuntu, based on ubuntu 9.04 with wicd as the network management software/ front end.

The SSID was being broadcast and I hadn't changed anything to do with networking on the machines or the router. Encryption is WAP and I hadn't changed any passwords/ keys/ phrases.

Anyway, to try and sort that out I decided to disable encryption on the wireless interface on gargoyle via the admin web page (192.168.1.1). I did so and selected 'save settings'. I got the 'saving settings' message and egg timer for about 15 mins so pulled the power out of the router and plugged back in again.

Now -

- I can't get the admin web page. 192.168.1.1. It just says loading forever.
- (I'm using firefox - and I have cleared the cache for the last several hours)
- The ssid is broadcast (as unsecured)
- I still can't get my netbooks to connect wirelessly (or wired for that matter)
- My 2 desktops which are both connected wired are still connected and working fine, including internet connectivity.
- I CAN ssh into the router.

I thought I'd better ask for some help before trying to do anything further.

If anybody can help me (a) get my web interface back again and (b) sort out my connection issues I'd really appreciate it.

I do suspect the connectivity issue with the netbooks must have somethign to do with dhcp allocation. I only have from 192.16.1.100 - 103 available for dhcp but these and my other devices are all supposed to connect with static ip's. Anyway, that is step 2 after sorting out how to get my web interface back.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

belbo

Well its all a bit of a mystery. I am able connect to the web page from my other desktop machine. Must be something to do with the browser / caching on this machine. Will see what happens after a reboot on this machine.

I can also connect wirelessly now. Who knows why. I decided to turn my mobile's wireless off in case that released a dhcp address and allowed the netbooks to connect. I picked up the netbook and it was connected (unfortunately I didn't check if it was connected immediately befor I turned off wireless on the mobile - so it could have actually connected any time in the previous hour or so since I last checked). Then I turned on wireless on the mobile and it also connected. So it seems it wasn't blocking the laptops from an address. Its all a bit of a mystery but at least my wireless is working now - and I can now lock down the wireless with WAP again.

Cheers

Update - Just to say I rebooted this machine (on which I couldn't get the browser page) and the page is now available.

If anyone has any reflections on potential causes of the above issues it would be interesting to hear your views.

Cheers
