How can I use PLEX?

As far as I remember it's possible to use PLEX without any exact PLEX server side application and only DLNA support needed (Gargoyle router in this case). For example if I have a smart TV with PLEX application it can reach the content of an HDD which is on the network.
Is this really possible somehow?

If the plex client is DLNA capable then sure.
Just enable DLNA on Gargoyle.
But plex has its own server and has DLNA support built into that to support devices that can’t run plex client. This leads me to believe that maybe it can’t.
And you won’t be able to run plex on a router.

I guess you right. I saw an old article a few years ago somewhere about opening some ports (
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articl ... -firewall-) could make this possible since the client also capable for a lot things. Btw what
Strict DLNA do?

Allows some server side scaling to adhere to DLNA standards
Recommended to be left off unless you’re having compatibility issues

I did this without DLNA by doing the following
* attach USB drive to gargoyle
* create NFS share to media folder
* identify the export on gargoyle - "showmount -e"
* setup plex media library to use this path
