My wireless bridge/repeater is working fine after following the directions from this forum  I was able to successfully bridge my LAN with three W-LAN clients (TP-link) & one AP (Archer C7 V5) covering a 3000 Sq Ft house and extends to parts of the anterior & back yard. Stats: W-LAN clients (2.4 ghz)= avg internet speed = 25 MB/S; AP ( 2.4ghz) = 56MB/S; AP (5 ghz) = 106MB/S. I have learned a lot from this forum. I have graduated from a newbie to an advanced beginner since following this forum. Hence, I'm forever grateful. I have a question that is nagging me. How does the LAN port or the bridge IP work? For example, I ping one of the W-LAN clients from the LAN side of the network. What roll does the LAN port/Bridge Ip play? Will the LAN communicate with the W-LAN clients if the LAN port is omitted in the network or if no subnet differentiation? I'm thinking in this example, the AP receives the PING signal; funnels it through the LAN port, then converts it wirelessly to the W-LAN client. The opposite happens when the acknowledgement of the ping returns to LAN side from the W-LAN client. Is this correct? Keep up the good work. This place provides awesome information   :D

i stuck again. i have two routers. both use Gargoyle. i would like to cover my kitchen cause with one router is not really done. so i would like to extend the network with the other router. if i set the second router to Client+AP it will connect and the net works okay. but it's now in a different subnet so i cannot reach my HDD which is connected to the main router.

i'm not a guru just have some clue but cannot figure out how can i properly configure it to get in the same network through the second router too and get the same fixed IPs. i only want to get wifi through the second router, LAN is not important.

If you could easily get a LAN cable to the kitchen, a dumb AP setup would be best. Otherwise, Wireless Bridge/repeater is needed to get them on the same network.

Hello all, looking for some clarification here regarding my wired repeater based on the guidance here: https://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/do ... s_repeater

I've got my main gargoyle router with wifi at 192.168.1.1 handing out dhcp addresses from 192.168.1.100 to 249. Now I've got a second gargoyle whose wan port is connected via wire to a lan port of the main gargoyle:

Configure as gateway
Set “Connect Via” to Disabled
Bridge WAN to LAN.
Setup wifi AP.

The lan for the repeater gets a bit confusing as does the dhcp. Ive set the lan to 192.168.10.1 and gateway to 192.168.1.1. now this router hands out dhcp to clients at 192.168.10.x and has no internet access. I thought connecting to the repeater is supposed to be as if you're connected to the main router? What's wrong with my config? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Turn off DHCP on your second router, it will all be handled by the first one.
You also want your second router to have an IP in the range of the first one. Typically a static reservation, but it doesn’t matter too much.

That did the trick, working great!
Any tips on whether the SSID can be the same or different? I imagine there will be some confusion at the halfway point in terms of distance.

Same SSID is fine. Ideally you would adjust the transmit powers to minimise overlap between the two to encourage good roaming behaviour from clients, but clients are ultimately making their own roaming decisions.
I think just try it and see, if you’re getting bad service try a separate SSID.

flashed a wd_mynet-n750 with gargoyle_1.13.0-ath79-generic-wd_mynet-n750 .
As a dumb wired switch, with WiFi off, it works well. But it gets a random LAN MAC after rebooting. At my main router I can't assign a static IP to the random LAN MAC of this Gargoyle switch. How can I use its original MAC, when Connect Via: disabled. Thank you.

Configure Device As: Gateway (Default)
Internet / WAN
Connect Via: Disabled
Wan Ethernet Port: Bridged to LAN

You can set the macaddr in the config /etc/config/network.
The device is not supporting finding a stable mac address from its ROM.
Just to be aware, this device does not appear to be successfully supported long term (there are issues in the latest versions).
