Bridge Mode issue

Hi,

I'm on a 20mbps upload/download fiber connection speed. When I was on ISP's modem router, I can get the maximum speed I paid for, however, when changed to bridge mode and connected my Gargoyle router to the modem the maximum I can get is 15mbps.

Is there any special settings to get the maximum speed or the advertised speed that I pay for?

What router are you using?
And are you using QOS? If so, have you set it correctly.

Hi Lantis,

Sorry for such a delayed response. I'm using TL-WA701ND v2 router flashed with Gargoyle 1.8.1. Yes, I'm using QoS as this was the reason I used Gargoyle in the first place. I think I've set it correctly like Max upload/download link I entered was 18000 kbps. I ran the speed test during off peak hours by the way, when there's no one using the internet, and also I enabled ACC. Your help is much appreciated.

Have you tested the speed without QOS/ACC enabled?
Usually with ACC enabled, when you run a speed test it kicks in and throttled the connection slightly to keep ping times in check.
This could easily account for the loss in speed.

Please test around these parameters and let me know.

My personal setup I have added 20ms to my acceptable ping limit so that ACC does not aggressively throttle my connection, allowing me to get full speeds when I need them, but stepping in to manage ping times when they become excessive

Cool! I'll give that a try and let you know how it goes. Thanks!

Looks like QoS/ACC is throttling my download speed. Haven't got any benefits by adding 20 ms ping limit like you said though.

Are you able to post a screenshot of the ACC status while doing a speed test so we can see what might be going on?
Please host the image externally and link to here

Yes, will do. I'll get back asap. Need to wait until no one uses the internet though. Thanks, Lantis!

I'm back with my screenshot during the speed test. This was taken while I'm the only one using the internet.

That shot is implying that it is having no latency issues and will happily allow you to use your full bandwidth.
12ms is quite a low limit (my connection is similar), so you may find raising it beneficial. I set manually control ping time to 20 which raised the limit to 28/55, both very reasonable ping times.

Nothing obviously wrong from that. What if you start a long large download? Like an Ubuntu image from their servers?
