DNS error code

Why do I get a DNS error code when trying to conct my PS3 to the intnet. I am using wired conct from my modem? It use to get internet until I moved and switched to AT&T. I do not have a router, I'm running wired connection straight from the modem. It is a Motorola modem. It gives me the DNS error code even though I have switched the IP address, DNS codes, and restarted my modem. Any ideas?

Chandana,
Are you having issue with a router that has Gargoyle firmware?
Or is this issue not even related to Gargoyle?
As far as your modem and PS3...
If you have a Cablemodem and its connected directly from
the Cablmodem WAN port -> PS3 LAN port, it should give it
an IP, DNS, subnet, etc etc... all that should be auto DHCP stuff.
Do you have DHCP enabled on the PS3?
If this is new, have the PS3 and cablemodem powered off for about
15 minutes, to do a full reset - also make sure there is no battery
backup in the cablemodem - full power-off cycle of 15 minutes
Power both the cablemodem and PS3 on at the same time, and
then see if the PS3 gets an IP from the cablemodem.
Some of the cablemodems store MAC addresses, and if you had
some other device - like a computer - connected before, it
remembered that MAC address and doesn't know why the PS3
is connected to the cablemodem.
A 15-minute power off cycle should reset that and remove any
MAC address lock from the cablemodem.
