Can not connect to Router anymore after upgrading to Gargoyle

I have a Linksys WRT54GL-Router.
Its IP address is 192.168.1.1.
It had the Tomato 1.28 firmware.
Today i upgraded to the Gargoyle 1.6.3 firmware of the wrt54g-router.
The upgrade was not too successful.
I was not able to access the web interface properly. It was so slow i had to change to another firmware.
But the firmware-uploading of Linksys/Tomato was not possible on Gargoyle. It always stopped.
So I tried to connect and install another firmware via Putty and WinSCP.
I simply put the bin-File into the tmp-directory via WinSCP.
Then I installed it via putty.
And now I can not even ping the router anymore.
WTF is going on?
Is there a way to fix the problem?
