Email plugin gmail

Being tired of checking all the websites visited by my kids manually I decided to install the email plugin.
I am using a Gmail address like most would, but can't seem to get past the authorization stage. I have only tried SSL and yes, I entered all the necessary details such as SMTP ect... My Gmail currently uses 2-factor authorization, might be the issue but I tried an alternative Gmail address without the 2-factor authorization and it still wouldn't work.
Could anyone who has got it to work guide me through this please.
