DHCP for assigned MACs?

I'm a new Gargoyle user, and new to the forums. Thankyou for the most excellent software this project has produced. Very helpful. I have latest Gargoyle running on a WRT54GL to prevent my lodger using more than 10GB of our 20GB cap each month.
Once I assign a static IP to a MAC and prevent the MAC connecting with any other IP, can that device then just use DHCP (i.e. will Gargoyle automatically dish out the right address I previously set up for that MAC?) or MUST the client use static addressing?
