1043nd v2 wan port not detecting until reconnect

Hi everyone!
I decided to give gargoyle a try since my wr1043nd v2 was having problems keeping wired connection for some reason.

Setup is:
My isp gave me dynamic ip internet and a basic modem(tv/data splitter).
From that modem it goes into router wan port.
On stock, wireless was working well but lan port was dropping few times a day... actually most often when I was playing video games for some reason. But wifi kept on working so it's not a problem with internet access...

ANYWAY - I've flashed factory 1.9.1 and found out I cannot get ip/dhcp from my modem. Nothing. The led is flashing but seems like nothing is detected coming from modem to router and no ip address is given at all.

I found the solution to be just disconnecting and connecting cable (don't matter on what end) from modem to router.
So just, reconnect on back of router and it all works great !!!

But reboot or restart the rooter and I have to reconnect cable again for wan port to detect the cable.
Any idea what is going on and how to fix it?
Ideally I won't have to EVER restart the router so this won't be a problem but I did not had gargoyle installed long enough to see if it actually helped with wired disconnections. For now it works :D

Hi mate it sounds like a hardware problem to me. Could you try a new ether net cable. If that does not work look on the connection page and under wan write down the IP that you get when it's working and try Connect Via: Static IP (Wired)

The cable is new 5e but also tried on another and same result.
Static IP i cannot get to work.

Maybe there is a way to reset wan port after router reboot/start ?

You can try this latest build:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9415
or try and do a failsafe reset:
https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/generic.failsafe

Have you checked the ether net port for dust?
If non of that helps then I am sorry to say you mite have a dodgi router mate. It mite be time for a new one. :(

Yeah it's clean... So I might need a new one. OK then.
I guess this is not the right place to ask for recommendation for router for 200mbits network for small 45m apartment ? :p

It's not necessarily a router fault.
I experienced the same behaviour only the other day.

I've not had time to look into why.

OK so I did had more time for testing and internet is still dropping out after playing video game for few minutes. Not even online video game...

So I play cryis2 or resident evil 7 demo and every time I quit the game after few minutes of playing, there is no connection. Restarting pc don't help and reconnecting cables dont help.

Only restart of router helps or reconnecting it to modem.

And with gargoyle I also have to reconnect wan after restarting router :P
I really need new router

Update:
I got my parents asus ac51u and it is stable. No disconnects and resets required.
So it was inteed 1043nd that is faulty !!!

I now need another router as ac51u is terribly slow and only give me 60mbit on wired....

What router up to 100$ is best currently? Everyone recommends Archer C7 but I am afraiid to get tp link again. Especially after problems with 1043nd... they even look the same :?

A bit late, but your 1043 probably has a 3 year warranty. Phone or email TPL support and hopefully you'll get an new one in exchange, I did :D
